This notice describes the personal information processed through the GCEO Group website and related account features, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Who operates this service
The website and member services are operated by GCEO Group® (Group of Guidelines Consensus and Education in Ophthalmology). For privacy questions or requests, email contact@gceogroup.org.
Information we process
If you register, we process your name, email address, country, optional phone number, account identifier, and password credentials (handled by Firebase Authentication). Your profile may also contain an optional profile photo, saved-resource list, and email preferences. If you contact us or send case feedback, we receive the name, email address, message, and any feedback details you submit. Please do not include patient-identifying or other sensitive health information in messages.
How we use information
We use account information to create and secure accounts, provide the services you request, save your resource choices, respond to messages, administer email preferences, and protect the website from abuse. Professional updates and webinar invitations are sent only when you opt in; you can change your preferences in your account or contact us.
Analytics and browser storage
Optional Google Analytics is loaded only after you accept analytics in the website consent prompt. If accepted, it measures site visits and resource interactions using analytics cookies. Analytics is not used for advertising. Your choice is stored in your browser so we can remember it. Firebase and other essential site functions may use browser storage or similar technologies to keep sign-in and security features working. You can change your analytics choice through the site’s analytics settings or clear browser storage; blocking essential storage may affect features.
Service providers and disclosures
We rely on service providers to operate the service: Firebase/Google for authentication, database and profile-photo storage; Brevo for contact messages and, where configured, opted-in email updates; GoDaddy for website hosting; and Google Analytics only when you consent. They process information as needed to provide their services under their own terms and privacy information. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect people, rights, or the service.
International processing
These providers may process information in locations outside your country. Their locations, safeguards and terms may vary by service. Please review the providers’ privacy information, including Firebase, Brevo, and Google.
Retention and deletion
We keep account information while the account is active and use contact messages as needed to respond and maintain appropriate records. You can delete your website account from the account page; this removes the account credentials, profile document, and profile photo handled by that feature. Some copies may remain temporarily in provider backups or be retained where required by law. Email-provider records or messages already sent may need a separate unsubscribe or deletion request.
Your choices and privacy rights
You may update account details, change optional email preferences, and request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of your information by contacting us. You may withdraw consent for optional email or analytics processing at any time; this does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal. Depending on your location, you may also have the right to object or complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Security and children
We use access controls and other measures intended to protect information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. The member account service is intended for adults and professional users, and we do not knowingly seek personal information directly from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
